Bois d’Ébène
Brazilian cabreuva meets patchouli, cypriol and juniper berry in a textured, dark woody composition.
Perfumer: Aurélien Guichard
Bois d’Ébène builds around Brazilian cabreuva with a patchwork of darker, amber-like woods. Guichard imagined rich textures brought together from different parts of the world. Their connection, rather than a single isolated wood, shapes the composition’s character.
Cabreuva oil sits at the centre. Indonesian patchouli strengthens its woody density, while Indian cypriol brings a warmer ambery facet. Juniper berry highlights a fresher, spicier woody character, allowing a drier brightness to remain within the darker material picture.
Consider it when wood should be the main character of a fragrance, or with quieter clothing that leaves room for its earthy texture. Created by Guichard and introduced in 2019, this eau de parfum is illustrated in a 100mL bottle. Angular transparent glass, a black cylindrical cap and white label follow the house’s shared design.
