Empty House
A quiet blend of bergamot, rose, sandalwood and musk, inspired by the tidy white rooms of 3-Iron.
Empty House draws on Kim Ki-duk's film 3-Iron (2004), imagining the unfamiliar familiarity of someone else's home. An unnaturally tidy white room holds comfort and awkwardness together. This tension between intimacy and distance provides the starting point for the fragrance.
Bright bergamot and the cool spice of cardamom meet the softer floral character of rose and jasmine. Dry sandalwood and vetiver are rounded by musk and a balsamic sweetness, giving the composition a quiet, settled character. The floral notes soften the dry woody texture, while the aromatic opening retains a clear, lightly spiced character.
MAGNIFF's accompanying images include the heavy air of an overcast summer day, damp concrete, a wet bathroom, white wallpaper and an ebony chest of drawers. Together, they suggest the traces of daily life within a still, slightly humid interior. The image of two people drawing close without speaking adds a subdued intimacy to this remembered room.
