Scent Development and Character
An aromatic woody-spicy eau de parfum that opens with a sharp, bitter citrus and herbaceous rush of gin and absinthe over Italian lemon and coriander, before unfolding into a carnation-tinged floral heart spiked with clove and framed by cypress and ylang-ylang. As it settles, an earthy cobblestone and Haitian vetiver accord fuses with resinous labdanum and smoky-smooth guaiac wood, creating a liqueur-like trail that feels both elegant and unsettling, oscillating between polished refinement and a darker, mysterious edge.
Who It Is For and When to Wear It
On skin, Beauté du Diable moves from a vivid, slightly boozy citrus-herbal opening into a spiced floral phase where carnation, clove and geranium dominate, before drying down to a textured woody-resinous base that feels like warm stone, vetiver and incense-tinged woods. It wears best with a moderate number of sprays, where its complexity can be appreciated without becoming overpowering, and suits cool to mild weather or evening settings when its contrast of brightness and shadow can fully unfold. Best suited to autumn and winter, when its warm woody-resinous base and spiced floral heart feel comforting yet slightly dark, but it can also work in cooler spring or summer evenings with a light application. Sillage: moderate to moderately strong: the opening projects clearly and the spicy-floral heart is noticeable at arm’s length before the scent settles closer to the skin with a textured woody trail.
