Bubble Gum
Named for bubble gum but composed as fresh soap, with freesia and musk leading a clean floral-fruity line.
The name points toward bubble gum from a corner candy shop, but the actual composition reaches instead for the clean air of fresh soap. The brief gathers childhood fragments — the small thrill of blowing a first balloon, the sweet smell of a brightly coloured sweet shop — and translates them into flowers and fruit rather than confectionery.
The opening lines up pear, orange, bergamot and lemon, so the acidity of the fruits and the oil of their peels arrive together. In the heart, rose, freesia, jasmine and a fruity note layer in, with freesia taking the lead; it carries the kind of laundered, almost powdered floral that gives the fragrance its clean backbone.
Underneath, amber, musk and patchouli settle the composition. Musk sits forward, keeping a soft, close trail on the skin, while amber softens the edges and a small earthy touch of patchouli tightens the sweeter top, so the perfume reads along one continuous line of cleanness from soap-like freshness to a soft sweet drydown.
