A pot of azuki beans slowly sweetening in sugar and a mochi with a tangy blackcurrant centre inspire Cœur Azuki. Delphine Lebeau’s 2022 eau de parfum draws on the Japanese tea house where Kenzo Takada grew up and the sensory pleasure of childhood teatime.
To translate the distinctive texture of sweet azuki paste into scent, the perfumer combined the gentle acidity of blackcurrant buds with creamy vanilla-flavoured rice. Simple bean warmth and a brighter fruity impression meet in a rounded sweetness, recalling the lingering pleasure of a small treat.
The rounded 75 mL glass bottle has a pale pink tint, a white cap, and a vertical label. Cooler outings and leisurely afternoons suit its meeting of comforting sweetness and fruit-like tang.
