20I20
A modern take on the 1920s classic CHIC, setting raw patchouli against cool rose and geranium.
Perfumer: Veronique Nyberg
20I20 marks an anniversary of the Golden Twenties, the decade of glamour, excess and extravagant freedom. The house returned to a scent that had been popular in Berlin during the 1920s.
Its starting point is CHIC, a Schwarzlose classic whose blend of spicy patchouli and velvety sweetness made a stir in the 1920s. The original formula was reconstructed from archived flacons, and perfumer Véronique Nyberg translated it for today.
The scent works on contrast. Raw, hippie-style patchouli sits against the cool, velvety freshness of rose and geranium, and noble woods warm the whole. The official notes are Rose Essence & Benzoin Resin, Patchouli & Oriental Amberwood, and Pink Pepper Jungle Essence™ & Bourbon Geranium. Benzoin brings a resinous sweetness, pink pepper a bright prickle.
