Figuier Noir
Céline Ellena's portrait of sitting beneath a black fig tree near Grasse: sap, woods, spices and black fig pulp hold bitterness and sensuality together.
Perfumer: Céline Ellena
Perfumer Céline Ellena traces Figuier Noir to years spent in the countryside around Grasse. With the first heat of the year, the fig trees there give off a scent that is bitter and sensual, harsh and voluptuous. That pairing felt reassuring and elegant, yet full of contradiction, and it gave Ellena the idea of writing a fragrance for men.
Large leaves stirred in the breeze, and Ellena sensed the sap beneath the bark. To preserve that fleeting impression, the perfumer returned to the workshop and began combining fragrant materials.
The composition brings together sap, woods, spices and black fig pulp. Fruity sweetness meets bitter green sap and the texture of wood, holding cool shade and summer heat in the same fragrance.
