Purple
An Eau de Parfum for Liberty’s 150th anniversary, translating its signature purple into airy violet and warm amber.
Perfumer: Alex Lee
What might Liberty’s signature purple smell like? Purple was created to celebrate the London department store’s 150th anniversary, with Alex Lee as perfumer. Veridian, a synthetic ingredient evoking violet, gives the fragrance an airy floral impression, like colour seen through the light. The warmth of Ambermor and Ambertonic joins it, while Operanide and Amber Xtreme are listed in the base. Rather than depicting a bouquet, this molecular composition explores violet and amber in a fragrance intended to take on a different character on each wearer’s skin. The animals decorating the 100 mL bottle refer to those carved into the woodwork and staircases of Liberty’s flagship store. Released in 2025 as an Eau de Parfum, it brings the store’s history into both its scent and its design.
