About Veridian
Veridian is a synthetic fragrance ingredient developed by IFF. It brings together a violet impression and a green, leafy character. It is an aroma ingredient rather than an essential oil distilled from a plant.
Scent Profile
The combination of violet and fresh greenery is central to its character. Instead of imagining only a sweet, powdery flower, it helps to picture the leaves around that flower as well. The surrounding materials influence whether its floral or green side becomes more prominent in a composition.
Use in Perfumery
Veridian offers a way to bring a green accent into floral compositions or a violet impression into green accords. Its role depends on the rest of the formula, so it need not appear at one fixed stage of every fragrance.
Did You Know?
According to IFF, Veridian was introduced in 2008. Its manufacturing process was subsequently revised to reduce waste and resource use, an effort described in the US Environmental Protection Agency's 2016 green chemistry programme material.
