No.89
Orange and bergamot meet lavender, nutmeg and dry woods in a citrus-woody fragrance named after the Floris shop at 89 Jermyn Street.
No.89
Orange and bergamot bring a clear citrus opening, tempered by lavender and the warmth of nutmeg. Neroli and petitgrain add blossom and leafy aspects, giving the freshness more texture than citrus peel alone.
An Address in a Bottle
Introduced in 1951, No.89 takes its name from the Floris shop at 89 Jermyn Street in London. It was composed in the building's sub-basement, affectionately called The Mine, in premises that had also been the family home. Its citrus-woody character thus carries a connection to the place where the house lived and worked.
Composition
The top notes are bergamot, lavender, neroli, nutmeg, orange and petitgrain. Geranium, rose and ylang-ylang soften the heart; cedarwood, musk, oakmoss, sandalwood and vetiver give the base its dry, woody definition.
Bottle
An eau de toilette, shown in the 100 mL clear-glass bottle with a gold-coloured cap and the fragrance number on a dark blue front label.
