CEDRUS builds its scent around three cedarwoods rather than one. Deodara grows wild in the Himalayan highlands, atlas cedar is cultivated across Morocco, and Virginia cedar is gathered from the wild. Each brings a different weight: one high and dry, one rounder with resin, one closer to earth. Together they read as a single trunk.

Wild orange and jasmine absolute cut through that wood. The orange lifts the cedar into daylight; the jasmine works less as a flower than as movement, keeping the composition from settling. Petitgrain adds a bitter citrus edge, and pink peppercorn gives a grainy spice that opens the air before the wood fully arrives. Vetiver and bergamot round out the list.

On skin, citrus comes first, then the dry, toasted side of cedar. Vetiver keeps a trace of soil underneath without weighing the scent down. The overall impression is a clearing in the woods at midday: warm wood, clean air, a mineral coolness at the edges.

Try it when you want dry woods with a brighter citrus edge, perhaps while getting ready in the morning or before going out on a cool day. A small amount on the wrist offers a way to explore the cedarwood character on your own skin.

Each batch is blended by hand in Los Angeles, so color and slight cloudiness can vary from bottle to bottle. That is a natural result of working with plant essences rather than a flaw.
