Summanus
Cardamom and black pepper illuminate rose, jasmine, cognac and warmer woods in a fragrance inspired by the Roman god of nocturnal thunder.
Perfumer: Christian Provenzano
Summanus takes its subject from the Roman god associated with the night and nocturnal thunderstorms. Created by Christian Provenzano and introduced in 2020, it places sharper flashes of spice against deeper flowers and woods. The composition suggests a moment of light across a darker sky, with a warmer thread running through the floral heart and woody base.
Cardamom, bergamot, orange, black pepper, ginger, pine and elemi introduce Bulgarian rose, jasmine absolute, amyris, amber and cognac. Velvety flowers meet the rounder warmth of a spirit-like accent. Sandalwood, cedar, cypriol, guaiac wood and tonka then form the base, giving the earlier materials a deeper, more resinous woody setting.
Consider it for an evening outing or when you want flowers and spice with warmer wood. The 100mL bottle combines dark smoked glass with a rose-gold-coloured cap and shoulders. Its black circular medallion bears the eagle and fragrance name, while the thicker glass below continues the darker colour of the bottle.
