Auster
Lemon and geranium meet star anise and clove before warmer woods and ambergris, evoking a Mediterranean wind with brighter citrus and salt.
Perfumer: John Stephen
Auster imagines a warm Mediterranean wind moving through a lemon grove towards the end of summer. Created by John Stephen and introduced in 2020, it takes its name from the Roman god of the south winds. Brighter citrus and geranium meet spice and warmer woods, giving the landscape a clean opening and a more grounded finish.
Star anise and lemon introduce sweeter geranium and clove. A cooler, leafy herbal impression meets the brightness of the citrus, with spice providing a gentler outline. Cedar, musk, sandalwood, ambergris and patchouli form the base, adding wood, earthier depth and a saltier warmth that continues the suggestion of wind from the sea.
Consider it for a daytime outing or when you want citrus with a quieter woody setting. The 100mL bottle combines clear glass and pale liquid with a rose-gold-coloured cap and shoulders. A metal-toned medallion carries the eagle and fragrance name above a thick transparent glass base.
