The Original

An eau de parfum that opens on light pink pepper and cardamom spice, moves through the resinous sweetness of labdanum, and settles into warm amber and sandalwood. The brand tells it as the scent behind the Eight & Bob name.

Eight & Bob

オリジナル 100mL ボトル

The Original is the scent at the root of the Eight & Bob name. According to the brand, Albert Fouquet met a young John F. Kennedy on the French Riviera in the summer of 1937. Kennedy was taken with the fragrance Fouquet wore, and once back in the United States he asked for eight bottles, and one for Bob if possible. The house tells this story as the origin of its name.

The opening pairs pink pepper and cardamom. The pepper gives a lift with a faintly rosy edge, set against cardamom's cool, quiet spice, and lemon keeps the outline crisp. At the heart, wood, labdanum and violet leaves take over. Labdanum brings a resinous sweetness with a fruity, woody depth that the brand links to twentieth-century Paris, while the green, slightly sharp violet leaf keeps that sweetness from turning heavy. In the base, amber and sandalwood carry the warmth, and vetiver adds a dry, earthy root note that settles everything down.

It was made to be worn by men and women alike. Light spice over warm resin makes it easy to pair with tailored clothes as well as soft knits.
