Wipeout!

Wipeout! starts from its maker's memories of the sea. In the official liner notes, the maker says they grew up on the coast and love the culture of seaside towns. Those towns always seem to have one shop with board shorts and towels covered in tropical plants, and a sad hat rack of floppy buckets and snapbacks advertising the "salt life."

What the perfume portrays is the air inside that shop. It smells of sun tan lotion, coconuts, the sea outside, and flowery soaps promising to whisk you away to the South Pacific—as if the flower prints on the clothes have come alive. Ginger lily, guava flower, surf spray, ylang ylang and coconut milk all tie back to that remembered smell.

In the base, beside Javanese vetyver, sits an accord named bustin' surfboards. Yet the official FAQ says the perfume doesn't have a surfboard wax aroma as such. Instead, it conjures the whole surf shop in all its tropical flower glory.
