Debaser Perfume Oil
The Pixies-summer fig of Debaser, carried in sweet almond oil as a 10 mL roll-on worn close to the skin.
Perfumer: David Seth Moltz
At nine, at camp on an island, cool older punk kids showed David Seth Moltz the Misfits and the Pixies. That summer was ruled by Doolittle and the cackle of Frank Black. Debaser is the fig scent that grew out of that memory; Debaser Perfume Oil sets it into a 10 mL roll-on, a separate version from the eau de parfum.
The liner notes call up August humidity, young romance, something hot, humid and sexy: green stems, deep purple fig, soft blond woods, a wet white ethereal musk and the coumarin-vanillic note of tonka bean. The house describes fig as an accord of molecules smelling of milky coconut and tomato leaves, and here it meets the cool green of pear stem rather than pear fruit.
The oil is carried in sweet almond oil. In oil the fig keeps its juice but sits quieter, close to the skin.
