Avignon
Incense, soft Roman chamomile, dry woods and vanilla evoke the historic southern French city.
Perfumer: Bertrand Duchaufour
Avignon follows the historic southern French city through incense. Within a series that travels between cities through scent, gentle Roman chamomile brings warmth close to the deeper incense accord. Smoke held in a quiet space meets the feel of dry wood.
Roman chamomile gives a soft herbal floral aspect to cistus oil, elemi and incense. Vanilla adds roundness, supported by patchouli and palisander. Resinous depth and a drier woody outline keep the composition grounded rather than simply sweet.
It suits incense enjoyed with softer flowers and woods. A quiet evening or restrained outerwear can accompany its depth. A small application offers a way to bring a calmer atmosphere close to you.
Bertrand Duchaufour created this eau de toilette in 2002. The black, slender cylindrical 50mL bottle has a silver cap, white incense lettering and a red fragrance name within the series’ pared-back design.
