Elaborate is a pure parfum introduced in 2009, built around labdanum, oud and animalic musk. Labdanum, associated with sticky rockrose resin, gives the composition a more leathery depth. Its image of malachite cast into a dark lake suggests a striking contrast: a flash of green against darkness, rather than a fragrance defined only by the warmth of its resins.
The composition enters musk and oud directly instead of beginning with a lighter citrus opening. Labdanum and cistus support its resinous warmth, while civet adds an animalic texture around the wood. Moss and pine needles bring greener shading reminiscent of a damp forest. An ambergris accord contributes a cooler, saline impression, providing a thinner, contrasting layer around the fuller wood and resin.
