Ambre Liquide
Dominique Ropion revisits a medieval pomander recipe through amber, vanilla, rose and richly textured resins.
Perfumer: Dominique Ropion
Ambre Liquide begins with the medieval pomander, a scented object carried like a piece of jewellery. Dominique Ropion reinterprets a recipe dated 1348, bringing that historical world into a contemporary perfume.
Rounded amber and vanilla form its sweet center. Cistus absolute from the dry scrublands of Spain contributes a warm resinous character, joined by the honeyed floral body of Damask rose. Myrrh adds density, while styrax carries warm musky and leathery facets.
Frankincense gives the composition another resinous dimension around its sweetness. Spices, flowers and balsamic materials make the historical starting point tangible through smell, offering several textures to follow within a warm amber perfume.
