Scent Development and Character
A dark aromatic leather composition built around absinthe and wormwood, Memoir Man opens with a sharp, green burst of mint and basil over a bitter herbal absinth accord. As it settles, smoky incense and cool lavender intertwine with a muted, slightly shadowed rose, creating a dry, contemplative heart. The base unfolds into textured leather over oakmoss, tobacco, and vetiver, cushioned by guaiac wood, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, and soft musk, giving the fragrance a smoky, woody, and faintly sweet trail.
Who It Is For and When to Wear It
Memoir Man wears as a dense, contemplative leather with an herbal absinthe edge, best suited to cooler weather, evenings, and situations where a dramatic, slightly gothic signature is appropriate. The strong opening can feel challenging in heat or tight spaces, but once it settles the incense, oakmoss, and leather create a sophisticated, introspective aura with notable projection and very good longevity. Best in autumn and winter, acceptable on cool spring days; generally too dense and smoky for most summer conditions except cool nights with light application. Sillage is Strong projection with a pronounced scent trail, especially in the first few hours; can feel imposing in enclosed or warm environments. Longevity is Long-lasting to very long-lasting; typically 8–12 hours on skin with some users reporting noticeable traces into the next day. These are editorial estimates derived from the official composition and concentration and will vary with skin and climate.
