Hakuna Matata
A fruity-amber scent built on banana and honey. It opens with green banana peel and bergamot, moves into ripe fruit and white flowers, and settles on warm honey and labdanum.
Perfumer: Rodrigo Flores-Roux
Hakuna Matata is a fruity-amber fragrance built around banana and honey, a pairing few would expect. The opening sets bergamot's brightness against an accord evoking green banana peel and the flowers of broom, so it starts slightly green and dry, like fruit not yet ripe.
In the heart the banana turns ripe and sweet, while jasmine from southern China and orange flower add a fuller white-floral body. The fruit and flowers have a tropical feel, but the sweetness is rounded and weighty rather than juicy and light.
The base pairs honey with labdanum. The honey's thick sweetness gains warm, resinous shading, and the fruit and flowers settle into a calm amber tone. The brand describes the scent as being free from constraint and fully in the moment, at ease and in no hurry.
The structure follows a line from unripe banana to ripe fruit to honey. To see how it is built, notice the green edge at first spray, then the honeyed sweetness once it has settled on skin. It is an eau de parfum made in Barcelona and presented as an all-gender fragrance.
