About Sonia Constant
Sonia Constant is a Givaudan Master Perfumer who translates landscapes, food, flowers, and people encountered in travel through poetry and synaesthesia. A fragrance is not a photograph of place but a way for freedom, surprise, or intimacy felt there to overlap the wearer's time.
Career
Interested in flowers and form from childhood, she considered design and architecture before entering ISIPCA. Two years there included practical work at Givaudan, followed by three years at the company's perfumery school. Teachers and mentors including Dominique Ropion, Francis Kurkdjian, Olivier Pescheux, Jean Guichard, and Christine Nagel offered differing perspectives; she has remained at Givaudan for more than twenty years. In 2017 she co-founded ELLA K with her husband.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Color encountered in travel becomes material light and dark, sound becomes rhythm, and poetic space becomes trail. Musk, florals, leather, and patchouli work as layers through which a moment can be bodily re-experienced rather than copied literally. Her own house retains the technique developed for clients while opening formulas to more personal philosophy and freedom.
