About Maud Chabanis

Maud Chabanis is a French perfumer and Creative Director at PCW, a fragrance company in Grasse. Born in southern France, she draws on encounters with nature to develop fragrances that connect aromatic detail with emotion.

Career

Chabanis completed the ICAP master’s programme in cosmetics, aromas and perfume engineering in Montpellier, graduating at the top of her class in 2012. She began as an assistant perfumer at Romessence, developing her knowledge of raw materials and natural ingredients, before joining PCW. She is also a member of the International Society of Perfumer Creators.

Creative Style and Philosophy

Walks and travel provide starting points for her creative work, with intuition and sensitivity helping to turn an encounter into a composition. She values the capacity of fragrance to prompt pleasure, a smile or an emotional response. Among her preferred materials are vetyveryle acetate, with its delicate, slightly smoky woodiness; pink pepper, for a lively spicy opening; and labdanum, whose warm resinous character connects gourmand, woody and spicy ideas.

Signature Works

  • *AIR* — A Free Yourself fragrance in the Elements Collection, taking air as its theme.
  • *EAU* — Her water-themed fragrance for the same collection.
  • *Pimpante* — A Parfums de la Bastide perfume bringing cherry and almond together in a fruity floral composition.
