About Julian Bedel

Julian Bedel is the Argentine scent artist who founded Fueguia 1833. He did not begin from perfume training alone; material awareness developed through music, painting, sculpture, and guitar making moved into the medium of smell.

Career

Bedel entered composition while imagining a scent installation based on landscape, learning empirically by asking growers, suppliers, and manufacturers. He launched Fueguia 1833 in Buenos Aires in 2010. Respect for South American communities and botanical culture guided its development, while an estate in Uruguay now cultivates and distills more than one hundred aromatic plant species.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Nature is not merely a source of notes but an active presence capable of accompanying a life and returning memory. Expeditions beginning in Patagonia search for plants rarely used in perfumery. Variation among natural batches is retained as a record of place and season, while people, literature, and scientific history are connected through tension among a limited number of materials.
