About Bram Niessink

Bram Niessink is the Dutch founder of FUGAZZI and a fragrance creator involved in developing its collection. He established the house in Amsterdam in 2018, connecting perfume with fashion, design and nightlife. His approach grew from personal experimentation rather than formal perfumery training.

Career

Niessink began studying Fashion Management at Amsterdam’s AMFI in 2014 and founded FUGAZZI after graduating in 2018. In a first-person interview, he traced the beginnings of the business to a trip to Egypt, where he enjoyed blending perfume oils. Encouraging reactions to a favourite blend led him to consider bringing it to market. Learning through repeated trials remained part of his working method.

Creative Style & Philosophy

He describes perfume as a way to evoke emotions, places and memories. His taste has developed from immediate impact toward contrasts: freshness with depth, softness with intensity, and simplicity with a distinct character. This interest in balance also involves practical experimentation. Discussing Nocologne, he recalled that increasing the oil concentration alone did not preserve the opening as he wanted; the development took twenty-four versions.

Representative Works

  • *Angel Dust Eau de Parfum* — A soft musk composition centred on Cashmeran, also singled out by Niessink as a fragrance that gives him confidence.
  • *Parfum 1* — Citrus, herbs and woods form its structure. Japanese authorised retailer NOSE SHOP names Bram as its perfumer.
