Andrew Everett
Andrew Everett is a perfumer at IFF who approaches perfumery as an act of exploration, learning, and storytelling.
Career
Raised in Florida, he grew up close to nature and the ocean, attentive to the scents of his surroundings. He went on to study art history in Rome, where artists, collectors, and mentors introduced him to fragrance as a powerful medium for telling stories. After working in an art gallery in New York, he entered the IFF–ISIPCA Scent Design and Creation programme.
Creative Style
Curiosity, playfulness, and a willingness to take risks guide his process, and he treats mistakes as opportunities for discovery rather than dead ends. When he describes his work, he talks about choosing materials to create contrast. He sets a bright, youthful note against a precious one, or sharpens juicy sweetness with a touch of salt.
Signature Works
- *Club Couture*
Conceived to feel inclusive and uplifting, the composition is colorful and built on sharp contrasts. Fig brings brightness and youth. Iris, one of the most precious ingredients in perfumery and known as perfumers' blue gold, adds a sense of rarity.
- *Vendetta Donna*
A Valentino fragrance created with master perfumer Dominique Ropion around a carnal tuberose. To add an element of surprise, Everett immersed the flower in a custom red orange nectar accord inspired by the Tarocco Rosso, a prized Italian orange variety. He wanted to go beyond the usual sticky gourmand and explore Italian sensuality. A final touch of salty notes gives the accord a crispness and offers a modern take on addictiveness.
