About Officine Universelle Buly

Officine Universelle Buly edits the knowledge and appearance of nineteenth-century apothecaries and beauty shops for contemporary hygiene, formulation, and travel. The date 1803 belongs to Jean-Vincent Bully's historical shop, which inspired the project; it does not mean the present company operated without interruption for two centuries.

History

Bully opened a perfume and beauty shop on Rue Saint-Honoré in 1803 and gained a reputation beyond France. Two centuries later, Victoire de Taillac and Ramdane Touhami, fascinated by its records and spirit, revived the brand on Rue Bonaparte in 2014. Expansion followed through stores whose historical interiors are designed differently for each city. The company joined LVMH in 2021.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Plant oils, powders, combs, dental care, and scent rituals from many regions are collected, but old formulas are not repeated without question; they are adjusted for contemporary safety and use. Water-based perfume and labels written by hand resist speed and total uniformity. Elaborate retail interiors are not intended only as stage sets. Time spent discussing use and material between customer and staff becomes part of the product. Historical imagination therefore serves attentive service when it remains honest about what is revival and what is documented continuity.

Iconic Fragrances

  • *Lichen d'Ecosse* — Moss, greenery, and woods suggest rain held in stone and cold forest.
