About Juliette Has a Gun
Juliette Has a Gun transports Shakespeare's heroine into the twenty-first century and turns her from someone waiting to be protected into a character who chooses her own distance, seduction, and language. The “gun” is not literal violence but a metaphor for using perfume as a statement of self.
History
Born into a family associated with fragrance and trained through practical work in perfumery and business, Romano Ricci launched the house in 2006. He brought narrative, provocation, and an accessible entrance to a highly codified niche market, developing the line between Paris and Grasse. Ricci remains closely involved in both artistic direction and composition, allowing the collection to expand like one fictional protagonist growing through different chapters.
Philosophy & Signature Style
Romance and rebellion, innocence and sensuality, specialist craft and a light joke can remain together without one resolving the other. Even when a formula uses very few materials, simplicity functions as deliberate editing that makes the wearer's attitude legible, not as a lack of knowledge. Names and copy may be bold, while the distance from skin, musk texture, and cleanliness of the trail receive careful control. Provocation becomes wearable because technical restraint keeps the character from turning into costume.
Iconic Fragrances
- *Not a Perfume* — A single molecule becomes the subject through its relationship with skin.
- *Pear Inc.* — Pear, musk, and ambroxan form a transparent, playful structure.
