Mistpouffer

Mistpouffer begins with unexplained cannon-like sounds heard over foggy lakes and rivers. Stora Skuggan spent four years developing a fragrance for that elusive phenomenon, looking for mist without a straightforward aquatic character and smoke without oppressive weight. Tomas Hempel created the eau de parfum, released in 2019.

Smoke is supported by the dry textures of pine, vetiver and cypriol. Fig leaf introduces greenery, while bergamot and ozone bring a brighter sense of air around the darker materials. Immortelle and malt sugar add softer, gently sweet facets, so the composition suggests more than a burnt or ashy smell. Dryness, warmth and a little sweetness remain in conversation rather than resolving into a single heavy smoky theme.

A large grey sphere with intricate darker markings tops the clear rectangular 30mL bottle. Its shifting pattern echoes the idea of something perceptible yet difficult to grasp. The fragrance offers an unusual choice for a cooler day or a quiet evening, particularly when the combination of dry woods, airy smoke and subdued sweetness feels inviting.
