Afrique en Fleurs
Flowers in cracked rock above swirling hot sand: Moroccan rose and powdery iris, warmed by vanilla and desert sand.
Perfumer: Hamid Merati-Kashani
Flowers pushing up through cracks in the rock, hot sand swirling at their feet: Afrique en Fleurs treats contrast itself as its subject, finding striking beauty in parched, rough ground. Its guiding idea is that intense dry heat draws out a flower's scent.
It opens brightly with South African orange and the spark of Nigerian ginger. Moroccan rose stands at the centre, a centifolia rose that the brand sources from the Tiddas region, hand-picked in the early morning. Bright Egyptian blue chamomile joins it, along with a powdery iris meant to evoke the sand swirling beneath the flowers.
Creamy Madagascan vanilla closes the composition, while desert sand and sandalwood give it a dry, grainy texture. Rather than sinking into sweetness, it keeps a sense of heat and faint breeze around the flowers.
