Siamese Water takes its cue from an old Siamese custom of jasmine steeped in ceramic jars of rainwater to refresh the senses. The stated composition is mint, Thai jasmine, ylang ylang and sandalwood.

Mint sits at the top as a bracing, cool green edge that tightens the sweetness below it. In the heart, honey-colored Thai jasmine is paired with ylang ylang, which thickens the floral sweetness into something round and slightly creamy. The blend works by holding two directions at once: a sharp chill and a dense, sweet flower.

Sandalwood is the only base note. Its smooth, milky wood gathers the contrast close to the skin. Because it is an alcohol-free oil with a 25-30% fragrance concentration, the brand says it is meant to be warmed by the body and to shift gradually on skin.

If you like white florals but find them heavy, the mint offers an easy way in. A small amount on the wrists or behind the ears keeps it a close, personal scent.
