Ciavuru d’Amuri
A Sicilian childhood under a grandmother's fig tree, milky green giving way to olibanum and warm wood.
Perfumer: Giuseppe Imprezzabile
The name means "scent of love". The perfumer dedicates it to Sicily, the island where he grew up. It travels backwards through memory into childhood, offered to the creator's mother and grandmother, and especially to Bartolomeo, the creator's father.
At the centre of that memory stands a fig tree whose broad trunk shaded grandmother Vincenza's flowering garden. The scent opens on the milky green of fig, with the bitterness of artemisia and bergamot alongside. Over time it softens and turns white, like mothers' dresses and the Sicilian sun, while jasmine and ylang-ylang hold the light as white flowers.
Evening comes after long walks home: austere olibanum and the warm wood of cedar and sandalwood settle onto sweet benzoin. There are voices telling old stories around a table, still beneath the dew of the grandmother's great fig. Powdery notes keep the finish soft around one of the most private chapters of the creator's life.
