Vanilj
Nordic Cedar's spice and wood softened with vanilla into a powdery gourmand with a hint of bourbon.
Perfumer: Maya Njie
Vanilj is built on vanilla and cardamom, a pairing with deep roots in Swedish tradition. The brand presents it as the sweeter, quieter sibling of Nordic Cedar.
The spicy, earthy side of cardamom, patchouli and cedarwood remains, but vanilla softens it and moves the scent toward a powdery gourmand, a style that recalls sweets and other edible things. The vanilla also brings a slightly boozy edge, like bourbon. Musk and amber complete the listed notes.
The photograph comes from the wedding of Maya's uncle Lars in Nyköping, Sweden, in 1971. Lars worked as a tree surgeon and took photographs as a hobby, and many of his family pictures inspired Maya to formulate.
