Tropica
Childhood trips to The Gambia, told through pineapple, Mediterranean fig and coconut.
Perfumer: Maya Njie
Tropica opens with a fizz of citrus fruits, pineapple and white flowers, then settles into a relaxed heart of Mediterranean fig touched with iris and rhubarb, the tart, edible stalk. Coconut, ambergris and woody notes form the base, with sandalwood named among the key notes.
The scent comes from Maya's childhood trips to The Gambia. The memories behind it are specific: suntan oil, ripe oranges, coconuts picked straight from the trees, and the way those visits turned cold, dark days into bright warmth. Late nights belong to it too, with crickets singing in chorus, drums somewhere in the distance, and a carefree sense of release.
