Cycle 002
A spicy-woody desert portrait: sunlit citrus, dry black pepper and warm spice, settling into cedar, guaiac and warm resin.
Perfumer: Nathalie Lorson
Cycle 002 is Maison Violet's spicy-woody portrait of the desert. It opens on bergamot, mandarin, lemon and bitter orange, a citrus top the brand likens to fierce summer sun. In the heart, black pepper moves like a dry gust, while elemi adds a bright resinous edge. Allspice and clove are set against each other, and the brand reads their pairing as a balance between tension and comfort. Cumin brings an earthy note, imagined as a distant reminder of a greener world. The base turns to dry cedar and guaiac wood, with labdanum, Peru balsam and incense. Here incense is treated not as ritual or prayer but as a warm, sharp resin; the desert itself is the only subject. Moving from sunlit citrus through dry spice to warm resin, it suits days when you want heat and texture rather than sweetness.
