Encens
A temple filled with incense smoke, lifted by aldehydes and grounded in the dry depth of labdanum and leather.
Perfumer: Arnaud Poulain, Amélie Bourgeois
Encens imagines entering a sacred temple surrounded by incense smoke. Les Eaux Primordiales gives that forceful setting a lighter edge through aldehydes. Arnaud Poulain and Amélie Bourgeois created the 2019 eau de parfum for the Superfluide collection.
Aldehydes introduce a bright, defined opening. Incense and labdanum combine smoke-like dryness with the fuller texture of resin in the heart. Leather provides the foundation, leaving a tactile, dry finish. The concise composition connects rising incense with the darker substance of leather rather than a sweet gourmand impression.
The black cylindrical 100mL bottle is finished with a square black cap, a fine gold line and gold lettering. It suits a cool evening out for someone drawn to resin and leather depth, particularly when a less sweet fragrance feels more appropriate.
