La Rose De Versailles in its Perfume Mist form opens on an unusual pairing: cumin against rose. The spice carries a human, almost skin-warm scent that casts a shadow across the fully opened rose, so elegance arrives with something earthier already underneath it.
Through the middle, cedarwood and sandalwood build a two-layered woody scaffold around the flower. Cedar's upright, dry grain meets the creamy, milk-pale warmth of sandalwood, giving the rose a settled, interior depth — the quiet of a panelled room rather than an open garden.
The drydown turns resinous, with amber's honeyed, amber-coloured glow folded into the dry, slightly bitter medicinal character of myrrh. Kinfolk Notes dedicates the scent to Marie Antoinette — queen of France in her teens, the celebrity and fashion figure at the centre of Versailles, and finally lost to the guillotine . Rose, warm woods and resins carry that contrast between elegance and a darker, more intimate atmosphere.
