La Rose De Versailles
An eau de parfum built on cumin-touched rose with cedar, sandalwood, amber and myrrh, dedicated by Kinfolk Notes to Marie Antoinette.
La Rose De Versailles as an eau de parfum opens on cumin alongside rose, a top accord in which the spice's skin-warm, slightly salted scent presses into the glossy weight of a fully opened flower. The pairing slips a human shadow under courtly elegance from the first inhale.
In the heart, cedarwood and sandalwood cross: cedar's upright, dry grain against sandalwood's creamy, milk-pale warmth, each supporting the rose from a different side. Together the two woods suggest a warm interior around the flower.
The base folds amber's honeyed, amber-coloured resin into the slightly bitter, medicinal resin of myrrh. Kinfolk Notes dedicates the scent to Marie Antoinette — crowned queen of France in her teens, the central figure of Versailles' fashion life, and finally lost to the guillotine — and the floral-resinous drydown stays close to the skin like a heavy embroidered cloth.
