Aqua Sextius
A summer evening in Aix-en-Provence, the city of 100 fountains: citrus and green coolness slowly warmed by ambergris, woods and moss.
Perfumer: Cécile Zarokian
Aqua Sextius takes its name from the original Latin name of Aix-en-Provence, the city founded by the Roman consul Sextius. Known as the city of 100 fountains, it is also where Jul et Mad's roots lie. The fragrance pictures the end of a hot summer day in a small square framed by ochre stone façades, where friends gather around a green fountain to celebrate a couple's love and union. Ice clinks in glasses, water runs into a sculpted basin, century-old plane trees rustle, and a Mediterranean breeze arrives from the pine forests, or perhaps from the heights of Sainte-Victoire.
The house classifies it as a green chypre with a citrus-amber character. Citrus such as bergamot and grapefruit, joined by green notes, supply a burst of freshness, while fig, mimosa and white flowers add a festive glow. The coolness of marine notes and a mint/eucalyptus accord is gradually warmed by ambergris, woods and oakmoss. Cécile Zarokian is the perfumer.
