Cool pepper and cardamom set against smoky birch and an ink accord: a portrait of modern Britain, punk at heart and loyal to tradition.
Part of the 2018 Huntsman collaboration, Birch & Black Pepper is Jo Malone London's take on Britain today: a country whose rebellious streak runs back to punk, yet which still holds tradition close.
It opens cool and bright, with black pepper and cardamom giving a crisp, almost chilled spice.
Against that sits smoky birch and an accord of magnetic ink, adding a darker, graphic edge, like fresh ink drying on the page. The cool spice and smoky wood stay in tension.
