Rosa Centifolia carries the weight of the Berlin house's past; it is probably its most storied perfume. The current version sets out to rethink how a rose is perceived, beyond gender lines and away from the expected.
It opens on herbal, leafy greens with a hint of sandalwood. At the centre sits Rose Centifolia Absolute, from blossoms traditionally picked in the cool of early morning.
Soft pastel tones, a lemony edge and a light peppery touch give shape to this tenth Schwarzlose composition. The rose stays transparent and cool, with an earthy intensity that does not fade quickly. The ingredient list also names petitgrain bigarade, cardamom, osmanthus, Bourbon geranium, Arabian jasmine, Bourbon vetiver, Namibian myrrh and Santamanol.
