Bamboo Eau de Toilette
Mandarin, bergamot and pear lend brightness to lily, jasmine and ylang-ylang, while sandalwood, vanilla and musks soften the floral woody composition.
Perfumer: Frank Voelkl
The silver bamboo-shaped cap connects Bamboo Eau de Toilette to the handle of Gucci's Bamboo 1947 bag. The fragrance pairs that distinctive design with a brighter floral woody composition, moving from lively mandarin towards lily and softer sandalwood. Frank Vöelkl is the perfumer credited by Gucci for the current fragrance. Its spring-blossom inspiration gives the bouquet a more open feeling, while a gentler musky texture keeps the flowers connected to the quieter woods beneath them. Brightness and softness become complementary parts of the same idea.
Mandarin accord and bergamot accord bring a fresher citrus character to the opening, rounded by pear accord. Lily forms the centre of the heart, with jasmine accord giving the flowers more fullness and ylang-ylang accord lending a smoother texture. Sandalwood accord then adds woody warmth and depth in the base. Vanilla accord and musks soften the transition from the brighter fruit and flowers, allowing the wood to support the bouquet without removing its lighter character.
Try it with a pale shirt on a day out, or when white flowers should sit comfortably beside a lighter outfit. The 50mL bottle spreads horizontally, with faceted cuts across the shoulders and base of its clear glass. A pale pink interior and black fragrance lettering occupy the centre. Above them, the silver cap follows the jointed shape of bamboo, setting a reflective surface against the rounder glass below.
