Sensuous was created to bring out the warmest, most feminine side of a woman: her softness, confidence, grace and strength. Estée Lauder presents it as a scent that reflects its wearer from the moment it touches the skin, coming across a little differently on each person.
Rather than a top-to-base pyramid, the notes are grouped by impression. At the core are the warm notes, Molten Woods and amber, which form a rich, earthy center; the name Molten Woods suggests wood that has been softened and melted down.
Around that core sit atmospheric florals: jasmine, ghost lily, magnolia and ylang. A third group, the luminous notes, adds black pepper, sandalwood, honey and mandarin orange pulp. A little pepper and a trace of honey warm the center, while the juicy mandarin pulp brings light to it.
The fragrance is classed as woody amber. It is less a bouquet than a warm wood-and-amber heart wrapped in flowers, for someone who prefers softness built on depth.
