Egocentrique
Bright yuzu set against a smoky black vanilla accord, inspired by radical self-love.
Perfumer: Ashley Santiago
Egocentrique expresses radical self-love through contrasts of brightness and darkness. Ashley Santiago pairs vivid yuzu with a black vanilla accord that has smoky, almost leathery depth. Fresh citrus and warmer materials meet without losing their different characters.
Yuzu absolute opens alongside the Italian zest of green mandarin and bergamot. The sharp brightness of citrus peel leads into the spicy woodiness of Akigalawood. Amyris from the Dominican Republic adds a creamier wood texture, while heliotrope surrounds the heart with a soft, powdered character. These softer materials connect the lively opening with the darker base below.
A black vanilla accord joins labdanum and musk in the base. This vanilla has more than sweetness: a suggestion of smoke and leather gives it a darker, more tactile character. The composition allows the freshness of citrus and the warmth of resins and vanilla to remain in contrast, carrying its theme of light and shadow through the fragrance.
