Torero
Inspired by the Year of the Bull, an unexpected reading of the bull where bitter grapefruit and Rose de Mai meet cypriol and vetiver.
Perfumer: Christian Provenzano
Torero takes the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Bull as its starting point. The house acknowledges the controversy of bullfighting, stating that the treatment of the bulls outweighs any glamour, and turns instead to the diligence, strength, patience and trustworthiness associated with those born under the Bull.
The perfume is presented as an unexpected reading of the bull. Its description pictures jasmine infused with juicy melon and pear, classic Rose de Mai, bitter cassis leaf and the inky smoke of cypriol.
The scent opens with grapefruit, lemon and nutmeg at the top; Rose de Mai, Cashmeran and jasmine in the heart; and guaiacwood, cedarwood, cypriol, vetiver, musk and amber in the base. Pithy grapefruit spreads a bitter brightness through the composition, while nutmeg's warm spice and Cashmeran's soft woody texture surround the flowers.
In the base, dark, slow-burning woods and rooty vetiver answer that brightness, giving the floral heart a dry, earthy weight.
