About Thierry Wasser
Thierry Wasser is the Swiss Master Perfumer responsible for both new creation and olfactory heritage at Guerlain. Ingredients are not abstract names: he travels to origin and connects plant, producer, harvest, and community with the formula.
Career
Born in Switzerland, Wasser developed an early interest in plants and joined Givaudan after olfactory testing in 1981. Internal training led to a fine-fragrance perfumer role in Paris in 1987, followed by international creation at Firmenich. He began collaborating with Guerlain around 2007 and was appointed the house's Master Perfumer in 2008. In 2014 he received the Légion d'Honneur.
Creative Style & Philosophy
The world is treated as one garden in which relations among plants, ecosystems, and producers belong to material choice. Alongside new work, historical formulas affected by regulation or scarcity are restored as whole architectures rather than through one-for-one substitution. The past is not frozen; its emotional identity is connected to current safety and sustainability.
