About Silvia Martinelli
Silvia Martinelli is an Italian perfumer and co-founder of Giardini di Toscana. Working from Bibbiena in Tuscany, she creates fragrances shaped by personal memories, encounters and a long connection with the family perfume shop in which she grew up.
Career
Her family history in fragrance reaches back to a small shop opened by her grandparents in 1942, selling scents and ointments in the medieval Tuscan village. Years spent close to customers and their perfume preferences became a practical foundation for her work, alongside studies in Italy and France. A fragrance line originally made for the family boutique gradually developed into Giardini di Toscana as an independent brand.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Martinelli draws ideas from people, emotions and places, treating fragrance as a way to give those impressions a material form. Her approach brings inherited craft into conversation with contemporary taste, with the intention that a scent should enrich the personality of the wearer. Sweetness, flowers and woods can therefore suggest a feeling or an imagined setting as well as the ingredients themselves, from the softness of a comforting gourmand to the freedom of an island holiday.
Signature Works
- *Bianco Latte* — caramel, honey and vanilla form a creamy gourmand composition conceived around warmth and comfort.
- *Borabora* — tiaré, ylang-ylang and coconut milk evoke a sunny island escape, supported by a sweet and radiant trail.
