About Ralf Schwieger
A German-born perfumer currently based in New York and working with the fragrance house MANE. He is celebrated as a highly original creator who seamlessly blends intellectual rigor with sensory playfulness in the contemporary fragrance industry.
Career
Schwieger pursued a unique path to perfumery, initially studying chemistry in Berlin with a specialization in fragrance chemistry. At the age of thirty, he made the bold decision to move to Grasse and attend the prestigious Roure Bertrand Dupont (now Givaudan) perfumery school. Following his time at Givaudan, he joined MANE in 2008, where he has since developed a diverse portfolio ranging from commercial hits to daring niche creations.
Creative Style & Philosophy
He approaches fragrance creation as a two-part game: an intellectual or conceptual beginning, followed by an intuitive, sensory exploration. Inspired by the dynamic triangle between art, science, and industry, Schwieger is known for his architectural style. He often revitalizes forgotten raw materials and utilizes contrasting elements to build tension, all while maintaining an underlying sense of transparency.
