About Nathalie Templer

Nathalie Templer is a perfumer whose scientific and analytical background developed into a creative career. Her work connects France and Dubai and includes fragrances for Parfums de Marly; at Fragorium she also takes responsibility for perfumery and creative direction, shaping the house’s approach to fragrance.

Career

After studying chemistry in France, she spent three years with a small company in Grasse, gaining experience in production, quality control and research. Around ten years at MANE followed, where she analysed natural and synthetic materials using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Work in Dubai preceded her move into creation at Expressions Parfumées, turning that knowledge of materials towards composing fragrances.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Templer sees natural and synthetic materials as complementary parts of the same palette. Patchouli recalls playing in the forest after rain in Versailles, while holidays in Mougins left memories of rose, jasmine, mimosa and tuberose. Analytical familiarity with materials and the emotional associations of remembered smells therefore offer different ways into her creative work.

Signature Works

  • *Greenley*: This Parfums de Marly fragrance brings green apple and brighter citrus into contact with petitgrain and a woody foundation, giving fruit an aromatic outline.
  • *Perseus*: Grapefruit meets the more grounded character of vetiver, creating another connection between vivid citrus and wood in the house’s collection.
