About Michèle Saramito

Michèle Saramito is a French perfumer from Cannes whose career has been associated with Robertet. Freshness, particularly the brightness of citrus, is central to her approach. Her work extends from fragrances for children to creations for niche houses, giving that interest several different forms.

Career

She comes from a family with a long connection to perfumery in Grasse and began training at Robertet’s internal perfumery school in 1976. Her collaborations extend to Amouage, Parfums de Marly and Jovoy Paris. She is also the godmother and mentor of perfumer Mathieu Nardin, helping him learn the craft at the beginning of his career.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Saramito values the freshness of bergamot, the elegance of jasmine and the more sensual character of patchouli. Painting, especially the Impressionists, travel and personal emotions offer inspiration; drawing and painting also form part of her own artistic practice. She regards a perfume’s ability to move people as essential, connecting the handling of materials with memory and feeling.

Signature Works

  • *Ptisenbon*: a fresh children’s fragrance for Tartine et Chocolat that she names as a particularly meaningful achievement.
  • *Marcelle*: Marie Jeanne’s eau de cologne, connecting citrus and neroli with softer musk and resin for a luminous, rounded character.
